Fat is out, slim is in!

THERE’S nothing wrong being a large mammal, of course if you happen to be a whale, an elephant, a walrus or a hippopotamus where layers of fat is de rigueur.

But if you’re a human being then it raises not only a lot of eyebrows and comments but health-wise having layers of fat is certainly not required, not even optional.

Yes, we humans do need fat in our bodies for it to function as it should. But not layers of it making one obese, just enough to keep our physiology going smoothly.

By fat, we mean a person having a large amount of excess flesh and obese is one who is grossly fat and overweight.

No being fat is not a status symbol because you can afford to buy all those high-calorie and fatty food; it simply means you’re a greedy eater, at worst a glutton, meaning an excessively greedy eater.

Simply put, you have no self-discipline and obviously have not exercised a single day or even attempted to in your entire adult lifetime.

A fat or obese person does not command respect but ridicule and it is more evident with persons of authority, i.e. policemen/women.

An obese or fat policeman/woman with a large bulging belly straining to burst out of their uniforms, waddling out of breathe and not walking in an upright manner does not exude respect but ridicule.

Perfect images of a fat chorizo or a walking lechon belly, just imagine that sight running after a thief or cellphone snatcher.

And that ridiculous image along with the equally condescending jokes must have reached the powers-that-be of the Philippine National Police or PNP hence, excerpts from the Jan. 15, 2020 issue of Panay News:

MISSION: BURN FAT

No promotion, schooling for obese cops

The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is going tough on overweight or obese policemen. They won’t get promotions and they would be denied the opportunity for schooling to advance their careers.

They have to slim down first and hit the standard Body Mass Index (BMI), said Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police director.

Overweight and obesity are defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health. For the Philippine National Police (PNP), this hinders a policeman from performing his duty well.

Pamuspusan ordered city and provincial police directors to identity overweight or obese policemen and make sure these cops manage to achieve their individual ideal weight.

“They need to exercise more to be physically fit to run after criminals,” said Pamuspusan. “Police officers who are in good shape can easily earn the trust and confidence of the community.”

According to PNP officer-in-charge Lieutenant General Archie Gamboa, the intensified weight loss program covers everybody in the organization – from generals down to the lowest-ranking police non-commissioned officers.

This is in compliance with the directive of Department of Interior and Local Government secretary Eduardo Año putting emphasis on physical fitness for police officers.

“As police, we need to have good health. How can we run after criminals if we are not physically fit?” Año said.

Indeed, obesity or just being fat is never good health-wise. Aside from the diseases that go with it, your self-esteem is greatly affected and could lead to depression.

That saying a fat person is jolly is not true; it’s just a euphemism or a justification used by gluttons.

Take note that an obese person is never “politically correct” but a manifestation of someone who is greedy and has no discipline.

The idiots who say it is “politically correct” to accept yourself as obese are also the very same ones who say it is “politically correct” for someone with a penis and testicles to go and use a toilet intended for persons with vaginas.

Here’s an unsolicited diet and exercise program for obese persons wanting to trim down to respectable size 33/34 waistline for men and 28/29 for women:

We’ll start with your diet:

1. Avoid all sugary drinks i.e. soft drinks.

2. Avoid white sugar and instead use coco sugar.

3. Avoid sweets i.e. cakes , candies, ice cream. Instead take yogurt.

4. No extra rice and avoid white rice as it leads to diabetes. Instead, take brown organic rice.

5. Avoid red meat, pork and chicken and processed food, i.e. corned beef or tocino.

6. Be on a plant-based diet i.e. vegetables, fruits and fish.

And your exercise program:

1. Brisk walking for 45 minutes continuous every other day or eight laps in the Iloilo Sports Complex track oval.

2. No jumping jacks, sit-ups or any other ridiculous exercises as they will not do anything but just strain your muscles.

3. Do stretches only before and after your walk.

4. Remember the brisk walking should be continuous without stopping for 45 minutes or eight laps on the track oval.

Follow this diet and simple exercise routine religiously and after three months I guarantee very tangible results and continue making it a part of your lifestyle and in about six months you will have that size 34 or 29 waistline plus a trim and sexier body as icing to the cake.

And finally, if you cheat and do not follow it religiously, then nothing will happen to you and you’ll just be disappointed and go on a binge-eating life to console yourself and never grow old as you’ll die early either from a stroke or heart attack. (brotherlouie16@gmail.com/PN)
