Father vs son, nephew in brgy polls

BORACAY – Nine canditaes are running for village chiefs in Yapak, Manocmanoc and Balabag, which make up the popular island destination in Malay, Aklan.

Of this number, Yapak has the most candidates with five.

Yapak’s incumbent village chief, Hector Aguirre Casidsid, is challenged by his son, Brian Gregorio Casidsid. His nephew, Jhonnel Apio Casidsid, an incumbent Sangguniang Bayan member, also filed his candidacy for barangay captain.

Two aspirants also filed their respective candidacies – incumbent village councilman Benjamin Palcat and former Yapak kagawad Marlyn Gregorio Villarisis.

There are 20 candidates running for village councilors in Yapak.

Former Balabag barangay captain Lilibeth Sacapano also seeks a political comeback against reelectionist Jason Talapian.

Sixteen aspirants are running to become kagawads in Balabag.

In Manocmanoc, barangay captain Nixon Casimero Sualog also filed his candidacy, declaring his bid for reelection against former Sangguniang Bayan member Danilo Gelito Delos Santos, Sr.

Meanwhile, five candidates for barangay captains in Malay, Aklan are running unopposed./PN
