BACOLOD City – Two-termer Felisa barangay captain Mona Dia Jardin resigned. She cited “personal reasons.”
While a first-termer, her husband, Ramon — being the No. 1 village councilman, or kagawad — replaced her.
Jardin tendered her resignation on Oct. 18.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia accepted it yesterday. On the same day Ramon took his oath as the new barangay captain before the mayor.
Rumors had it Jardin was being eyed to sit at the Board of Directors of the Bacolod City Water District’s (Baciwa).
She declined to confirm whether or not her resignation was related to such rumors.
Two Baciwa directors have terms ending in December: chairwoman Ma. Aida Torre and Atty. Lorendo Dilag.
Leonardia’s comment was not categorical. “I will make my conclusion when the time comes” was all he said.
The city mayor has the power to appoint the members of the water district’s Board of Directors./PN
