BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) committee on finance is expecting an increase in the provincial budget next year.
Board member Salvador Escalante, chairman of the SP committee on finance, said Provincial Budget Officer Jose Saladu Jr. told him that there was a seven to eight percent increase in the internal revenue allotment (IRA) of the province.
“This would translate to an increase in the proposed budget of Negros Occidental for the coming fiscal year,” Escalante explained.
The IRA may rose to about P3.1 or P3.2 billion, he said.
But Escalante has yet to know the actual proposed budget from the provincial government.
Under the law, the executive branch must submit the budget proposal to the local legislature on or before Oct. 15./PN
