Finding real hope in times of trouble

A SWOLLEN lump in the brain and pneumonia. Argie Caro was devastated to learn that his life will never be the same again since he was diagnosed with two grave health problems.

“It was heart-wrenching because I lost my joy all of a sudden,” said the 39-year-old man from Iloilo City.

Despite his dire situation, Argie endures by keeping his faith in the Bible’s promise of Paradise. As he meditates on the wonderful creation, the fulfillment of Bible prophecies, and the love of his fellow worshippers, he continues to be firm despite his ordeal.

Argie further expressed, “I thank Jehovah for providing Scriptural provisions and encouragement through the Bible.” He is convinced that all promises made by God are sure to come true.

This March and April 2022, Argie joins millions of Witnesses worldwide, including hundreds in local area congregations, inviting all to hear the solid reasons for confidence in the hope promised in the Bible during a Bible-based lecture to be held the week of April 4, 2022.

“The Bible describes a future without pain, without suffering — even without death, right here on earth,” said James Morales, Philippines spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses. “Many people are surprised to find out that God’s original purpose is for perfect people living in a paradise on earth. His purpose has never changed. There’s sound reason to have faith in this promise.”

Faith in that coming reality proved life-changing for Jocelyn Elma, a resident of Dumaguete City, who has financial struggles while trying to raise her young daughter.

Economic hardships struck the livelihood of Jocelyn because of the pandemic and typhoons. Aside from that, they were displaced from their home and are now living in a temporary shelter. “I have had many negative thoughts and feelings,” she said.

Jocelyn, 51, reflects on the promise of the Bible that God will never forsake her. She continues to read the Bible and pray to conquer her negative emotions.

She maintains her joy and peace of mind by counting every blessing she receives from God. With faith, she expressed, “I view our problems today as temporary and they will not stay forever.”

“In the future, I will have my own house, there will be no more sickness, and our family will be forever happy,” said Jocelyn.

Celestino Enguig Jr, 47, living in Valencia, Negros Oriental, finds comfort in the same Bible promises.

About 10 years ago, Celestino met a tragic accident which resulted in head injuries. After being discharged from the hospital, he became disabled.

As he learns to accept the reality of his condition, he remains positive and continues to hold onto the promises God expressed thru the Bible. “Just trust in Jehovah and he will give the strength we need.” Celestino’s conviction remains immovable despite the challenges he faces.

The 30-minute program “Where Can You Find Real Hope?” will be hosted worldwide by congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The public is also invited the following week to the annual Memorial observance of Jesus Christ’s death on the evening of Friday, April 15, 2022.

Admission to both programs is free, and no registration is required. Information on attending locally is available at www.jw.org.

“In times like these, we need hope more than ever,” said Morales. “Hope helps a person look ahead with courage and confidence to the fulfillment of God’s beautiful promises. That’s why attending one of these special programs can be life-changing.”/PN
