ILOILO City – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is opening a substation at Alta Tierra Village in Barangay Quintin Salas, Jaro district today.
The substation is on 4th Avenue, Phase 3 of the subdivision, said Fire Senior Superintendent Jerry Candido, city fire marshal.
The new fire substation’s area of coverage includes Barangay Cubay, Barangay Tabuc Suba, Barangay Tacas, Barangay MV Hechanova, Barangay Quintin Salas, and Barangay Balabago, all in Jaro.
The Alta Tierra BFP fire substation is the fourth in Jaro.
“We have fire substations in Barangay San Isidro, Barangay Tagbac and Jaro Plaza,” Candido.
The lot where the Alta Tierra BFP fire substation stands was donated by the homeowners’ association.
“Permi may sunog sa area. Budlay magresponde especially sa likod, wala alagyan, and kun rush hours kag ma-traffic,” said Candido.
The new fire substation is some half a kilometer away from the highway.
The area is booming economically. There are many business establishments sprouting.
An area such as this must have a fire station, stressed Candido.
BFP also plans to open another substation in Barangay Calumpang, Arevalo district./PN
