ILOILO – About 130 grams of suspected shabu valued at approximately P884,000 were confiscated from a fish vendor during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Almeñana, Lemery, Iloilo.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Pantoy”, 31 years old, and resident of Lemery. He was tagged as a high-value target.
He was apprehended at around 6:12 p.m. on Monday, March 23. Seized from his possession were 13 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, buy-bust money, black Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle, and other non-drug-related items.
The joint operation was carried out by the Lemery Municipal Police Station (MPS), Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) Provincial Intelligence Unit and Provincial Drug Enforcement Team 3, and the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company.
Police Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), lauded the operating units for a job well done.
“We commend our personnel for their dedication and commitment to keeping our communities safe. Let this serve as a strong warning that we will continue to pursue those who threaten the peace and security of our region,” said Ligan. “The PRO-6 assures the public that we will not stop going after drug personalities until Region 6 is drug-free.”
The suspect was detained at the Lemery MPS. He will be charged for violations of Section 5 (Illegal Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Illegal Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
