Floating clinic eyed in northern Iloilo

ILOILO – To make healthcare accessible to remote communities in the northern portion of the province, the provincial government plans to operate a floating clinic.

Several communities, most especially in far-flung island barangays, do not have access to health services.

“Gusto naton nga may floating kita nga Rural Health Unit,” said Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.

This endeavor, however, may require substantial funding.

“Indi sia mahapos. Damo kita limitasyon sa pagbakal sang asset sang gobyerno kapin pa kon ano nga klasi sang barko,” said Defensor.

He added that the Provincial Civil Defense Operation Center would be managing the floating clinic should it materialized.

The provincial government also intended to procure a sea ambulance to be handled by the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force.

Ang sea ambulance amo ang makadto sa islandbarangay sang Northern Iloilo kon oras sang emergency ilabi na kon may residente nga dalal-on sa pinakamalapit nga hospital,” said Defensor.

Most of the 11 municipalities – Ajuy, Balasan, Barotac Viejo, Batad, Carles, Concepcion, Estancia, Lemery, San Dionisio, San Rafael, and Sara – in northern Iloilo have island barangays./PN
