ILOILO City – Floodwaters from heavy rains since Saturday receded yesterday. Over a hundred displaced families returned to their respective houses.
Classes resumed, too, after these were suspended on Tuesday.
As of this writing, only 28 families remained in evacuation centers, according to the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
The CDRRMO counted 169 displaced families from 24 barangays.
The flooded villages were the following:
- Burgos Mabini, Jereos, and Divinagracia in La Paz district

Sinikway in Lapuz district

Navais, Airport, Oñate, and Santa Rosa in Mandurriao district

Bonifacio Tanza, Pala-Pala 1, Pala-Pala 2, Magsaysay, and Danao in the City Proper

Desamparados, Cuartero, Bito-on, Calubihan, Tabuc Suba, Balabago, Tagbak, Sambag, and Dungon C in Jaro district

Compania Central, North Fundidor, Katilingban, East Baluarte, San Juan, Cochero, Calumpang, and San Antonio in Molo district

Sooc in Arevalo district
The City Social Welfare and Development Office distributed food packs to the displaced.
Meanwhile, some fishponds owners reported losses in fish stocks, according to the City Agricultural Office (CAO).
CAO tasked a team to assess the extent of damage.
Western Visayas was not under any storm signal but tropical depression “Maring” in Luzon was enhancing the southwest monsoon on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. City hall activated a 24-hour operation center to monitor the situation across the city.
The displaced families moved to their respective village gymnasiums and barangay halls.
Forty-one barangays had higher risks of flooding, according to the CDRRMO./PN
