ILOILO City – A 63-year-old foreman was found dead inside a stockroom that serves as his sleeping area at a construction site in Barangay Benedicto, Jaro district around 6:20 a.m. yesterday.

Jaro police said the victim identified as Froilan Bernas, a native of Capiz Province but currently residing in Barangay Sooc, Arevalo district, sustained multiple stab wounds on his chest.

In an interview with Felix Lemocito, the victim’s coworker, he said Bernas’ mouth was covered with a cloth when he entered the stockroom.

Gahandusay siya sa iya nga katre, galuyloy sa dalom iya tiil,” Lemocito added.

He believed that the suspect forcibly entered the stockroom and also took away the victim’s cellular phone and wallet.

Captain Jeffrey Delgado, officer-in-charge of the Iloilo City Police Station 9 (ICPS9), said the suspect might have covered the face of the victim with a towel before stabbing in order for the victim not to scream.

As of this writing, officers of the ICPS9 were still investigating the incident to identify the suspect and determine the motive in the killing./PN
