MANILA – A former member of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) recalled the time she claimed she was raped by religious leader Apollo Quiboloy as a 17-year-old.
The ex-KOJC member filed rape, qualified trafficking in person, and child abuse charges against Quiboloy and five others before the Davao City Prosecutor’s Office, as reported by Politiko website.
In her narration, the ex-KOJC member, who was then a student of KOJC-run Jose Maria College (JMC) in Davao City, said the rape took place on September 1, 2014.
She said a KOJC follower went up to her dormitory room at JMC and told her to prepare and “sanctify” herself because she would be massaging Quiboloy.
As she prepared for the message session with Quiboloy, the former KOJC member said she took a bath, put on pajamas and sprayed on a body mist, which she was told was Quiboloy’s favorite scent.
Inside Quiboloy’s bedroom in another JMC building, the complainant said she proceeded to massage the pastor’s back, and when she reached his butt, Quiboloy reportedly moved and faced her.
Quiboloy then allegedly began to undress the complainant before raping her.
The victim claimed in her affidavit that she wanted to shout for help but was told not to ask questions.
After the rape, the complainant said Quiboloy told her to put on her clothes and asked her to sleep beside him.
Quiboloy then allegedly told the complainant to return to her room through the back garden at around 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. the following day so her dorm mates won’t notice her disappearance.
The complainant said she escaped from the KOJC in May 2016, and claimed there were other female church members who went through the same night routine she did.
The complainant’s affidavit was part of the documents submitted by the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) in its petition to the Court of Appeals (CA) for the freezing of Quiboloy’s assets.
The CA granted AMLC’s petition and froze the assets and bank accounts of Quiboloy, KOJC, Sonshine Media Network Inc. (SMNI), as well as other entities and individuals linked to the pastor.
The 74-year-old Quiboloy is facing charges under Section 5(b) of Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act, and under Section 10(a) before a Quezon City court.
Quiboloy, a self-proclaimed “Appointed Son of God”, is also facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of Republic Act 9208, as amended before a Pasig court.
Furthermore, Quiboloy has also been indicted by a federal grand jury in the US District Court for the Central District of California for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud, and coercion and sex trafficking of children; sex trafficking by force, fraud, and coercion; conspiracy; and bulk cash smuggling.
The Department of Interior and Local Government said months ago that a reward worth P10 million is being offered for any information that will lead to the arrest of Quiboloy./PN
