Former Negros Occ Army chief dies at 56

BACOLOD City – The 303rd Infantry Brigade (303IB) of the Philippine Army mourns the loss of their former commander, retired Brigadier General Francisco Delfin, who passed away on Monday.

In a statement, 303IB commander Brigadier General Benedict Arevalo, said Delfin has died in a hospital in Iloilo City due to cancer.

Delfin served as the 17th commander of 303IB from 2015 to 2017, after which he became assistant division commander of 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) from 2017 to 2018.

He retired from the armed forces last February at the age of 56.

Arevalo, 3ID commander Major General Dinoh Dolina and 302IB commander Brigadier General Ignacio Madriaga led the send-off ceremony for Delfin at the Iloilo International Airport as his casket was loaded into a Philippine Air Force C-130 aircraft.

According to Arevalo, Delfin’s remains will lie in stated at Fort Bonifacio in Metro Manila.

Delfin is set to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on June 11./PN
