SAN ANTONIO Spurs have strengthened its guard rotation after acquiring De’Aaron Fox in a three-team trade that saw former NBA Slam Dunk champion Zach LaVine transfer to Sacramento Kings.
In the trade deal that was consummated on Sunday evening (Monday morning in the Philippines), the Spurs secured the services of Fox and reserve guard Jordan McLaughlin from the Kings.
The Kings, on the other hand, got LaVine from the Chicago Bulls, Sidy Cissoko from the Spurs, and three future first round picks and three future second round picks.
The Bulls, for their part, acquired three-point gunner Kevin Huerter, Zach Collins, and Tre Jones while also reclaiming the 2025 draft pick that they previously traded to the Spurs.
The 27-year-old Fox, a one-time NBA All-Star, has averaged 25.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.5 steals in 45 games (all starts) with Sacramento this season.
The 29-year-old LaVine, for his part, is averaging 24.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists this season with the Bulls. He is also reuniting with former Chicago teammate DeMar DeRozan with the trade to Sacramento.
Meanwhile, Golden State Warriors has stopped in negotiations with Miami Heat in possibly acquiring veteran guard Jimmy Butler, according to a report by ESPN.
The Warriors reportedly backed out from the trade after Butler’s camp informed them that he does not intend to sign a contract extension with them.
Butler, who requested a trade out of the Heat earlier this year, has previously expressed his desire to be traded to Phoenix Suns to play alongside Devin Booker and Kevin Durant./PN
