MANILA – Farm Fresh Foxies extended its winning streak in the PVL on Tour with a dominant 27-25, 25-17, 25-18 victory over Galeries Tower Highrisers on Saturday night at the USJ-Recoletos Coliseum in Cebu City.
After surviving a tight opening set that ended with a block touch challenge, the Foxies took control of the match and dismantled the winless Highrisers in just one hour and 33 minutes.
“We had a brief lapse, but that’s what we’ve been working on – how to keep the game fast and fluid,” said Trisha Tubu, who led the Foxies with 14 points, 13 coming from attacks. “We’re really grateful for the crowd’s energy and support.”
Jolina dela Cruz contributed 11 points, Lorene Toring added nine points, while veterans Rizza Cruz and Rachel Anne Daquis chipped in seven markers each for the Foxies.
Setter Alohi Robins-Hardy played a crucial role, tallying 14 excellent sets and four points. She outplayed her counterpart Ivy Perez, who managed only six excellent sets.
France Ronquillo paced Galeries Tower with 14 points, rookie Jean Asis added 11, Roselle Baliton had eight markers, Jewel Encarnacion finished with seven as they remained winless in four outings.
Meanwhile, PLDT High Speed Hitters asserted their dominance with a 25-11, 25-17, 25-21 sweep of the Nxled Chameleons to stay undefeated.
Negrense Kiesha Bedonia led the way with 15 points for the High Speed Hitters, which clinch the first outright quarterfinal berth in Pool A with a perfect 4-0 win-loss slate.
Mary Joy Baron chipped in 13 markers, built on 11 attacks and two blocks. Kim Dy and Mika Reyes added nine points apiece, and Jovie Prado contributed seven for PLDT.
Veteran playmaker Kim Fajardo tallied 18 excellent sets, orchestrating an offense that turned defense into transition scoring. She also had one point for the streaking High Speed Hitters./PN
