ILOILO City – Fuel prices in Malay, Aklan — the municipality serving as the main gateway to Boracay Island—differ significantly among gas stations, with diesel rates recorded between P127.95 and P141 per liter as of April 4, based on data from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC).
The council’s monitoring report indicated that the cheapest diesel was sold at Petro Gazz in Barangay Cubay Norte, while the highest rate was noted at a Shell station in Barangay Manocmanoc.
Regular gasoline prices also showed notable gaps, ranging from P88.50 per liter at a Sea Oil station in Barangay Caticlan to P105.10 per liter at AKY station in Barangay Yapak.
Premium gasoline, on the other hand, was priced between P89 and P105 per liter, with the lowest recorded in Caticlan and the highest in Yapak.
The price checks covered fuel outlets in strategic areas such as Caticlan, Sambiray, Cubay Norte, Manocmanoc, and Yapak — locations that cater to both residents and the high volume of travelers heading to Boracay.
According to the MDRRMC, the initiative is intended to guide motorists, transport groups, and businesses in planning their fuel consumption and operations, especially as prices remain volatile due to global market trends.
Officials also cautioned that pump prices may change without prior notice and can vary depending on supply and station-specific pricing schemes.
With increased travel expected during Holy Week and the summer season, authorities underscored the importance of staying updated on fuel costs to better manage trips and logistics in the area./PN
