CAPIZ – A furniture shop owner was shot dead in Barangay Rizal, Pontevedra town over the weekend.
The victim was identified as alias “Lucas,” a resident of the said barangay.
Police Major Anthony Salbang, chief of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, said the suspect posed as a customer and inquired about the price of a door. When the victim turned around to get a piece of paper to write a receipt, the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot him five times.
The victim sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the back and died on the spot.
The suspect immediately fled on a motorcycle in the direction of President Roxas town, heading toward Pilar. Witnesses noted that the suspect was not wearing a helmet.
The victim’s remains are now at a funeral home in Pontevedra while authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the killing and pursue the unidentified assailant./PN
