BACOLOD City – Rep. Greg Gasataya wanted to stop crimes perpetuated by riding-in-tandem suspects in the city.
Gasataya made a proposal to Councilor Dindo Raos after his office received several complaints regarding a series of theft and robbery incidents in the city.
Ramos is still studying the proposal, said Gasataya.
On Sept. 28, Gasataya met with Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), to discuss the crimes.
Gasataya added that the Police Regional Office 6 committed to augment the BCPO in guarding the MassKara Festival next week.
Yesterday, Police Station 7 arrested three robbery suspects in Barangay Alijis.
They were identified as Crisanto Primavera, 20, Jerry Arabelo, 25, and Ronniel Antiquin, 18. All were residents of Barangay Handumanan.
Police Station 7 commander Senior Inspector Ramil Sarona said the three were responsible for a holdup incident in the village on the same day.
For his part, Councilor Caesar Distrito encouraged the victims to file a criminal case against the suspects.
Distrito added that the victims will spend money in filing the case.
“The police will be the one to prepare their complaint. The fiscal will serve as their lawyer. All will be provided by the government,” Distrito explained.
With no case filed against the suspects, the police will eventually release them, said Distrito.
The victims must cooperate with the police to permanently put the suspects in jail, he stressed.
“Posting on social media will not give them justice, filing a case will,” Distrito added./PN
