‘Get boosted, be protected:’ Kalibo MHO laments low COVID booster numbers

KALIBO, Aklan – With the numbers remaining low, the Municipal Health Office (MHO) is urging vaccinated residents to get booster against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) for additional protection.

Only 5,172 individuals have so far received their first booster shots since the roll out in January 2022, according to the MHO.

Currently, 29 individuals have received their fourth dose or second booster shots.

Of particular concern to the MHO are the immunocompromised, senior citizens and healthcare workers.

The second booster shot is given at least four months after the first booster shot.

Among the pediatric population, around 1,550 individuals, who are between five to 11 years old, were vaccinated, while 4,086 individuals aged 12 to 17 also received their doses.

Dr. Abby Rose Yeban of MHO- Kalibo said the town has no active or new COVID-19 cases from May 1 to June 4./PN
