MANILA – Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings wasted its early lead before pulling away in the endgame for a 113-90 victory over Columbian Dyip in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Justin Brownlee flirted with triple-double with 26 points, nine rebounds and nine assists while Negrense Jeffrei Chan and Stanley Pringle added 20 markers each.

Japeth Aguilar had double-double 19 points and 10 rebounds while Arthur dela Cruz contributed 16 markers.

The Kings moved closer to sealing a twice-to-beat quarterfinals edge with its 7-3 slate.

It got things going early with shots from Brownlee, Pringle and Aguilar as the lead went up to 63-44. But the Dyip responded with a huge run to snatch the lead at 78-77.

Ginebra answered back with its own rally as Chan found his touch from the outside and Dela Cruz converting inside as they went up to as high as points.

In the first game, Matthew Wright drained a game-winning triple as the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters ended its campaign with a 120-117 overtime win over Blackwater Elite.

With the score tied at 117-all following a three-point play by Elite’s Shej Roi Sumang, Wright was left wide open at the corner for his game-winning outside shot.

Wright finished the match with 28 points, including five three-point conversions, as the Fuel Masters ended their campaign at 11th place with 3-8 win-loss record.

Alonzo Gee nearly had a triple-double for the Fuel Masters with 34 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists, while Ryan Garcia and Alex Mallari had 17 and 10 markers, respectively./PN
