ILOILO City – Giving up is not an option for Mayor Jerry Treñas whose “fatherhood” to the city and the Ilonggos has been greatly challenged by the coronavirus pandemic.
Being the father of more than 400,000 Ilonggos, Treñas said it is very challenging.
“(But) I will never give up while I am here. I am willing to listen to everyone if they have better ideas. Perhaps they have better ways to respond to the virus,” said Treñas.
Making decisions for the good of many is very hard, but he must do so to protect everyone, he stressed.
There were times he felt he already used up all his knowledge in fighting the coronavirus.
But he is thankful that the COVID team and other stakeholders are always there giving him strength and ideas.
“This is a very difficult surge. We are facing a virulent and very infectious virus. I have no choice but to do my very best,” Treñas resolved.
The city mayor previously expressed gratitude to those who appreciated his efforts for the city.
He further thanked everyone who continues to support the city’s initiatives.
“This may be a long and exhausting journey, but with the support I am receiving, I will continue to keep fighting for my beloved Ilonggos,” Treñas added./PN
