ILOILO City – Before this year ends, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) hopes to arrest its 11 high-value targets.
One of the 11 is Richard Prevendido of Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district, said Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles, regional police director.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has long identified Prevendido a drug lord.
Gentiles declined to identify the 10 others so as not to jeopardize ongoing police operations. He created a task force (Double Barrel Alpha) to run after the 11 targets.
A drug suspect is considered high-value if he is a public official, a member of government forces or drug lord, said Gentiles.
“Kasama dito si Richard Prevendido na hina-hunting natin sa buong region. Hopefully we could arrest all of them before this year ends,” Gentiles told Panay News.
He renewed his appeal for Prevendido to surrender to the police.
“Do not try to fight back. Sumuko na lang siya ng tahimik,” said Gentiles.
Sources said Prevendido had been hiding in northern Iloilo and may have moved to Capiz after the arrest of his brother Abelardo, also a drug suspect, on Aug. 23 in Barangay Bakhaw.
“We are now deploying all our focus teams and intelligence personnel to monitor his whereabouts,” Gentiles said.
On Oct. 21, PDEA launched a series of antidrug operations in Barangay Bakhaw targeting Prevendido and relatives. Some P1.3-million worth of shabu was seized from Richard’s house and from the houses of nephews Bonie Prevendido Gregori and Ednie Jimena. All three, however, were not in their houses.
Prior to the house raids, PDEA also busted two other nephews of Richard, Troy John Prevendido and Ariel Prevendido./PN
