ILOILO City – The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID), headquartered at Camp Gen Macario Peralta Jr. in Jamindan, Capiz, continues with its humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) mission in areas affected by Typhoon “Tino” in Cebu.
The HADR, spearheaded by the Joint Task Group Cebu in cooperation with the 53rd Engineer Brigade, covered clearing operations, unloading of relief goods, search and retrieval missions, and the transport of a cadaver from Nov. 13-18, the 3ID said on November 20.
Clearing operations were conducted in Barangay Cotcot, Liloan; Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City; and Barangay Buluang, Compostela.
Search and retrieval operations and the transport of a cadaver were carried out in Barangay Cabadiangan, Compostela.
Major General Michael Samson, 3ID commander, said their presence in Cebu is not just a mission, but a commitment to the people.
He also commended the “unwavering dedication of the troops on the ground.”
“I commend our troops for their tireless efforts in the face of adversity. Their courage and compassion reflect the true spirit of service, placing the welfare of the people above all else, being present, being dependable, and being ready to act when our communities need us most,” Samson said.
He also assured that their troops will stay in Cebu until the province has fully recovered. (PNA)
