BACOLOD City – Grupo Progreso (GP) candidates and volunteers conducted a post-election cleanup drive yesterday.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, GP head, led the removal of tarpaulins, posters, billboards, and other campaign materials from Lacson-Burgos Streets to Capitol Lagoon in this city.

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection and Department of Public Services also participated in the event.

Acting DRRMO head Dondon Parandas said the campaign materials are mostly made of non-biodegradble plastics, tarpaulins and papers.

“If left uncollected, these would result to huge piles of garbage that would block the city’s drainage that in turn could cause flooding once the rainy season starts,” Parandas said./PN
