
GUIMARAS – For the second consecutive year, this island province joined the ranks of exemplary local government units (LGUs) in the country as it was conferred the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) during the awarding ceremony on Monday, December 9, at Manila Hotel.
Gov. JC Rahman A. Nava received the award together with DILG-Guimaras director Roselyn B. Quintana, CESO V, and Congresswoman Ma. Lucille L. Nava.
Guimaras was among the 41 provinces in the country that was conferred with the coveted seal after passing the 2024 assessment.
Its consistent achievements in several core areas of governance have allowed the province to meet and exceed the stringent standards set by the SGLG.
The Municipality of Nueva Valencia was also among the 577 municipalities that got the award.
The SGLG serves as the highest accolade for LGUs that have demonstrated excellence in key performance areas: Financial Administration and Sustainability, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection and Sensitivity, Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Safety, Peace and Order; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; Sustainable Education; and Youth Development./PN
