Guimaras’ isolation, COVID beds 100% occupied

ILOILO City – The healthcare utilization rate (HCUR) of the province of Guimaras is at critical risk.

Both the isolation beds and beds dedicated to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients totaling to 63 were all occupied as of Sept. 5, the Health System Capacity Monitoring of the Department of Health (DOH) in Region 6 showed.

Guimaras is the only province in the region with critical healthcare utilization, according to Dr. Daphynie Teorima, medical officer at DOH-6.

DOH-6 data also showed that 37 cases or 97 percent of hospital admissions in the island province were critical cases, while one was a mild case.

As to risk classification, Guimaras is on Alert Level 4 for having a “high risk” average daily attack rate and “moderate” two-week growth rate.

As of Sept. 6, Guimaras had 2,142 total coronavirus cases – 669 active, 1,436 recovered and 36 dead.

Next to Guimaras, the city and province of Iloilo’s HCURs were classified as high risk while the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Negros Occidental, and Bacolod City were deemed low risk.

The entire Western Visayas had moderate risk HCUR at 61.01 percent./PN
