Guimaras’ P1.2-B annual budget for 2026 approved

GUIMARAS — The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Guimaras has approved a P1.2-billion annual budget for 2026, which is P162.97 million higher than the 2025 budget.

During the 19th regular session of the 11th SP held on November 13, under the leadership of Vice Governor Cecile C. Gumarin, the body enacted an ordinance authorizing the province’s annual executive budget for Fiscal Year 2026.

The approved budget allocates P1,288,465,420 for the General Fund, covering various operational expenditures of the provincial government, and P334,640,000 for the Local Economic Enterprise Fund, which primarily finances the operations of the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Medical Center (DCGNMC).

For comparison, the 2025 budget totaled P1,125,494,431 for the General Fund and P292,145,000 for the Local Economic Enterprise Fund.

The 2025 General Fund allocations were distributed as follows: P455,438,694 for the General Services Sector, P218,162,087 for the Development Fund, P197,352,813 for Social Services, and P135,180,253 for the Economic Sector.

Additional allocations were P62,105,862 for debt servicing, P56,274,722 reserved for calamity response, and P980,000 for aid to barangays.

The approved 2026 budget reflects the provincial government’s continued commitment to sustaining essential services, infrastructure development, and disaster preparedness for the people of Guimaras./PN
