GUIMARAS State College clinched the crown in the National Basketball Training Center-Guimaras leg after a 93-88 win over Sta. Teresa National High School in the do-or-die Game 3 on Friday at the Guimaras State College Gym.

Skyrus Occena and Ariel Loja finished with 16 markers apiece to lead the way for the Guimaras State, which will advance to the NBTC regionals along with the Iloilo and Capiz winners.

The game was tight from the start with both teams exchanging leads for a 19-21 deficit by Guimaras State. Sta. Teresa National High gained momentum in the second frame to build a 48-42 halftime lead.

The Guimaras State, however, did not allow its opponent to pull away with a huge third quarter run to trim the deficit to 69-70 before completing its run in the fourth canto to bag the leg championship.

Christian Gay Gamarcha and Richsmith Jauro finished with 16 markers apiece for the losing Sta. Teresa National High.

The thrilling championship was stretched to a do-or-die Game 3 after Sta. Teresa National High drawing first blood with a 73-70 Game 1 win before Guimaras State force a do-or-die with a 102-88 domination in Game 2./PN
