GUIMARAS Electric Cooperative (GUIMELCO) joined the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Guimaras’ Brigada Eskwela Kick-Off Ceremony 2026 with the theme, “Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman,” hosted by Jordan Central School at Poblacion, Jordan town.
Brigada Eskwela is an annual school program that brings together teachers, parents, students, local government units, private organizations, volunteers, and community members to help prepare public schools before the opening of classes.
As one of DepEd’s partners in this initiative, GUIMELCO continues to support schools through its Electric Cooperative and School Collaboration Program (EC-SKOL), which aims to strengthen partnerships in empowering minds and building communities. Through EC-SKOL, the DepEd Schools Division of Guimaras recommends school beneficiaries for the program, one of which is Jordan Central School.
General Manager Shirley S. Laurente, represented the cooperative and delivered the Partner’s Message of Support. She expressed GUIMELCO’s full support for Brigada Eskwela 2026 and highlighted the cooperative’s efforts to ensure the readiness of the venue’s electrical facilities prior to the conduct of the kick-off program and electrical connection, repairs, and installation during Brigada Eskwela.
“As your electric cooperative, GUIMELCO believes that education is a powerful force in building a brighter future. Just as we energize homes and communities, we also aspire to help create an environment where our children can learn safely, comfortably, and effectively,” Laurente said.
As part of its support, GUIMELCO provided free electrical materials and connection services based on the needs assessment conducted in coordination with the beneficiary school. The initiative forms part of the cooperative’s continuing efforts to contribute to safer and more conducive learning spaces for students and educators.
Joining Laurente were Board of Director (BOD) for Jordan and BOD Vice Chairperson Engr. Angelo Galaura, ISD Manager Dalia Villanueva, Technical Support Services Supervisor Engr. Dennis De La Cruz, PRMA Donjie Laurente, and other GUIMELCO technical support personnel.
The Brigada Eskwela 2026 Division Kick-Off Program was also attended by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Renato T. Ballesteros, Jordan’s Mayor John Edward G. Gando and Vice Mayor Anna Philippa Nava, Sangguniang Panlalawigan member and Committee on Education chairperson Marilyn Edang, Jordan Central School Principal III Dr. Jennyfer G. Figura, education stakeholders, volunteers, local government officials, and community partners.
