PASSI CITY, Iloilo — Tyler Guion delivered a scoring explosion for the ages, draining 10 three-pointers en route to a 46-point performance as Iloilo City dismantled Roxas City, 102-42, in the Elementary Boys basketball event of the WVRAA Meet on Thursday.
Representing the Schools Division Office Iloilo City, St. Robert’s International College imposed its dominance from the opening tip, with Guion’s deadly perimeter shooting setting the tone in a one-sided contest that underscored the team’s title credentials.
“I hope I can make more 3-point shots in my future games,” Guion said after the match.
Guion’s offensive masterclass, highlighted by his accuracy from long range and confident court presence, overwhelmed Roxas City throughout, as Iloilo City dictated both pace and rhythm from start to finish.
The blowout victory highlighted Iloilo City’s strength in basketball even as Iloilo Province and neighboring Aklan continued to rack up medals across multiple disciplines in the 2026 WVRAA Meet.
Iloilo Province dominated the gymnastics competitions, collecting multiple gold medals in both elementary and secondary divisions. In the elementary mixed pair event, Aidan Morven Oliveros and Yacia Reniela Jamoyot secured gold with a score of 13.85, while Reymon Jr. Panigua and Saphira Lavign Robles settled for silver.
Jamoyot added another gold in the elementary girls’ individual event (14.10), with Robles taking silver, while Panigua ruled the boys’ individual category with 13.80, followed by Oliveros with silver.
In the secondary division, Zoe Agregado led Iloilo’s charge with a gold medal in the girls’ individual event (15.85), while Tifanie Cazylle Huyan took bronze. Agregado also teamed up with Franz Rollen Robles to win gold in the mixed pair event, while Keane Dexter Jan Tanaleon and Huyan captured bronze.
Iloilo’s success carried over to swimming, where the elementary boys’ 4×50-meter medley relay team of Jhon Gabriel Pacuga, Prince Axel Patingan, Euan Grel Precia, and Xamm Zpeish Dato-on clinched gold with a time of 2:23.15.
Iloilo City also shone in the pool, with Candace Franco winning gold in the secondary girls’ 200-meter butterfly (2:44.48). She later joined Mica Angelle Posadas, Kassandra G. Iamandre, and Kyle Marie Beucena in topping the secondary girls’ 4×50-meter medley relay (2:13.63).
The city’s elementary girls’ 4×50-meter medley relay team of Naya Isobelle Dellosa, Athena De Vicente, Jann Xylene Gentozala, and Mez Merella Zuriel Suner added another gold (2:28.56), while Samuel Shear Valenzuela ruled the secondary boys’ 200-meter butterfly (2:22.94).
Hylana Kaciddy Lamanosa contributed a silver medal in the secondary girls’ 200-meter butterfly (2:49.14).
Aklan, meanwhile, flexed its strength in weightlifting, with Rhea Joy Tabernilla and Alfrey Remetio capturing gold medals in the junior girls’ 40kg and junior boys’ 52kg divisions, respectively.
The province also delivered in chess, where Hans Lee Villorente secured silver in the secondary boys’ blitz individual event before leading Aklan’s blitz team, alongside Clarence Bulagat, Alejandro Noel Casidsid, and Ruslan Pamplona, to gold with 14.5 points.
In swimming, Aklan’s Mighty Maroons earned silver in the secondary girls’ 4×50-meter medley relay with a time of 2:18.08./PN
