KALIBO, Aklan – A gunrunner was shot in a sting operation staged by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the Aklan Provincial Intelligence Branch and the Aklan Provincial Public Safety Company in Barangay Andagao.
Twenty-eight-year-old Raymundo “Kutong” Olino of Sitio Tinaongan, Barangay Rizal, Ibajay sustained left leg injuries.
Olino fired first, said CIDG Aklan chief Inspector Raul Bolido.
The police arrested Olino after he sold a .45-caliber gun with six live bullets to an undercover officer for P20,000 around 9:15 a.m. on Thursday.
“Matagal na itong bentahan ng baril at natuloy ito noong Huwebes ng umaga,” Bolido said.
Confiscated from Olino were another .45-caliber gun with four live bullets, a holster, a mobile phone and a motorcycle.
Bolido said Olino’s accomplice ran away after the shooting.
At the Aklan provincial hospital, Olino said he sold the firearm to pay for his children’s school expenses.
“Paltik ang baril at may limang bala. Binili ko dati ang baril at ginagamit ko sa baryo para self-defense,” Olino confessed.
Police also recovered two empty shells in the crime scene.
Olino was charged for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
