BACOLOD City – Barangay Taculing’s No. 1 councilman died due to heart attack.
Taculing village chief and Liga ng mga Barangay president Lady Gles Gonzales confirmed that her 44-year-old kagawad Dante Basan died around 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Basan was pronounced dead at The Doctor’s Hospital in Bacolod after staying there for a day.
Gonzales said Basan is a “public servant with a good heart.”
Basan – who left his wife Encie with their three children – is also a “loving person to his family and to his people,” Gonzales added.
Meanwhile, program manager May Theresa Malongayon of the Department of Interior and Local Government in Bacolod said Taculing’s barangay council must pass a resolution recommending a person to fill in Basan’s position.
The resolution must then be approved by Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
Malongayon added that a family member of Basan is allowed to take over his post.
Gonzales said they have yet to decide who to appoint./PN
