BACOLOD City — The city government has set up a Help Desk at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) to assist telecommunication companies (telcos) in addressing service-related concerns of their customers in the city.
Mayor Greg Gasataya said the initiative aims to provide a direct and accessible channel between telco providers and Bacolodnons, especially in the aftermath of Typhoon “Tino,” which disrupted internet services across the city.
“To help telco providers communicate with Bacolodnons, we are opening the BCGC lobby to all telco providers willing to establish a Help Desk,” the mayor said. “We are more than willing to provide a space that will serve as a direct channel for concerns, updates, service restoration timelines, and on-the-spot assistance.”
Gasataya encouraged all telecommunications companies to participate to ensure that residents receive accessible and reliable support, noting that “in this time of need, transparent and timely communication is the foundation of effective response.”
Following the onslaught of Typhoon “Tino” in November, many subscribers experienced prolonged internet outages—an issue that heavily affected residents who rely on digital work, including virtual assistants and online freelancers.
The city government continues to assist Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power), PLDT, Smart, and Globe in clearing vegetation, debris, and other obstructions to expedite the restoration of essential services.
“These operations are intended to support service providers in fulfilling their mandate to restore vital utilities,” Gasataya added./PN
