Hercor College NBTC-Capiz champ

HERCOR College Junior Jaguars has been hailed as the champions of the National Basketball Training Center-Capiz leg in their finals series against Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion.

The decision was reached by the NBTC Capiz leg organizers following a lengthy review done in the incident in Game 2 on Feb. 4 that prevented the match from pushing through.

The Junior Jaguars were ahead 68-61 midway in the third quarter when a player from Colegio de la Purisima went down after being hit with an elbow to the neck by a Hercor player in a box out.

Hercor College could have won the best-of-three championship series have they take care of the lead until the final buzzer after beating Colegio de la Purisima in Game 1, 97-80.

The Junior Jaguars and Colegio de la Purisima are both qualified to the Regional Finals but the latter opted not to participate giving the spot to NBTC Capiz leg third placer  Saint Mary’s Academy of Capiz.

Other teams in the Regional Finals slated from February 24 to 25 were Iloilo leg champion Santa Clarita International School Primes, Col. Ruperto Abellon National High School from Antique, Guimaras State College and Aklan./PN
