ILOILO City – A suspected high-value individual (HVI) was apprehended in a major drug operation in Bacolod City, leading to the confiscation of over P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu.

The Bacolod City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), headed by Police Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Benitez Jr., conducted the buy-bust operation at 12:54 p.m. yesterday in Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay 12.

The operation resulted in the arrest of Darrel Demafilez, 33, also known as “Mar-Mar”, who is currently unemployed and a resident of the same barangay.

Authorities recovered over 1,000 grams of suspected shabu, distributed in various packaging, from the suspect’s possession.

Among the evidence seized were 12 heat-sealed plastic sachets and an unsealed plastic bag containing suspected shabu, in addition to a sachet used in the buy-bust transaction.

Demafilez is facing charges for violating sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, covering the sale and possession of dangerous drugs.

He is currently detained as further investigations continue to uncover any potential links to the local drug trade./PN
