Himamaylan local falls in Cauayan buy-bust

BACOLOD City – A resident of Purok 6, Barangay To-oy, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental was arrested by policemen of Cauayan town in a buy-bust operation.

Around 3:45 p.m. on Nov. 11 in Purok 7, Barangay Caliling, Cauayan, 29-year-old Garry Ugdamen yielded two small heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, said Police Major Lowell Garinganao of Cauayan.

Cops also recovered the P600 buy-bust money.

The suspect was detained at the Cauayan police station lock-up cell.

He faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Section 2 of the Act declared it the policy of the State to “safeguard the integrity of its territory and the well-being of its citizenry particularly the youth, from the harmful effects of dangerous drugs on their physical and mental well-being…”

Toward this end, the law mandates the government to “pursue an intensive and unrelenting campaign against the trafficking and use of dangerous drugs and other similar substances through an integrated system of planning, implementation and enforcement of anti-drug abuse policies, programs, and projects.”/PN
