BACOLOD City – A national government official said the current administration is working on making the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) better.
All municipalities across the country will soon have a fire truck, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) undersecretary Jesus “JV” Hinlo Jr. said.
Hinlo, a Negrense, was guest during the “new year call” of the BFP in Negros Occidental at the office of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr.
The DILG also plans to have a computerized system for the bureau for more efficient transactions, particularly in securing fire safety clearances and permits, the undersecretary said.
Hinlo recently visited the Business One-Stop Shop at the Bacolod City Government Center where BFP representatives accommodate business establishment owners applying for permits and clearances.
Superintendent Fred Trajeras Jr., acting director of the BFP-Negros Island Region, led the fire officers who visited the governor.
Meanwhile Marañon urged all fire marshals in Negros Occidental to work together and unite to “make the province more progressive and safe.”
While no major calamity hit the province in 2016, they cannot be complacent; preparedness is key for safety, he told the BFP on Jan. 17.
Mayor John Rey Tabujara of Cauayan town was also at the meeting./PN
