Hua Siong rips John B., advances to ILOPRISAA boys hoops semifinals

HUA SIONG College of Iloilo advanced to the semifinal round of the 2018 Iloilo PRISAA secondary boys basketball after clobbering John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University 77-51 at the Western Institute of Technology gym in Iloilo City.

The Red Phoenix hardly broke a sweat in defeating John B. in the quarterfinal round on Sunday with Reneil Gamboa leading the offense with 14 points as Lee Yanzi Jimera added 11 for the defending champion.

Hua Siong surged to an early double-digit edge with shots from Reynold Tupas and Gamboa. By the middle of the fourth the game was practically over as Hua Siong clung to a 60-33 edge.

Santa Clarita International School also made it to the Final Four with a convincing 92-52 victory over Santa Isabel College of Iloilo in their own round-of-eight clash.

Franc Steven Tono and Kim Rey Servano anchored the offense of the Primes from start to finish for them to cruise to the next round. Both players combined for 46 points.

In other quarterfinal round results, St. Robert’s International Academy prevailed over Central Philippine University 112-51 while University of San Agustin ousted Ateneo de Iloilo 67-44.

The secondary boys basketball semifinal round starts 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Iloilo Sports Complex. Hua Siong will face San Agustin, after which St. Robert’s will clash with Santa Clarita./PN
