Hyperwash, IWALK dump foes in PBA D-League

MANILA – Hyperwash Vipers notched its breakthrough win in the 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup via a 93-62 domination of Alberei Kings at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Mac Montilla spearheaded the early scoring barrage for the Vipers on Monday. He poured 15 of his 17 points in the first half for a 26-11 advantage.

But it was Lord Casajeros who top-scored for the winning team with 25 points, on 11-of-17 field goal shooting.

Khasim Mirza collected double-double 23 points and 10 boards for the 1-2 Vipers.

“Maganda, kasi morale boosting para sa akin. Malaking bagay ito. Ngayon, nakabangon kami,” said Vipers head coach Joel Palapal. “Magaling ‘yung players. It’s just that may mga problema kami na dapat pang ayusin. Hopefully itong panalo na ito will boost us.”

Paulino Rebollos tallied 15 points, three rebounds and two assists while Jonathan Parreño got 10 points as the Kings stayed at the bottom of the standings at 0-3 win-loss card.

IWALK Chargers, meanwhile, unveiled its full power late. It blasted Hazchem, 90-76, to also tally its first win in two matches this conference.

Wowie Escosio uncorked 17 of his 22 points in the second half. He played a big part of the Chargers’ pullaway in the fourth quarter where they scored 16 unanswered points to flip a 64-62 deficit to a 78-64 lead with 3:25 remaining.

Jasper Parker added 12 points and six boards, JM Cruz tallied a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, five steals, and two blocks, and Bernie Bregondo also chipped in 10 points and nine boards for the Chargers./PN
