MANILA – Despite a clash of schedule with her duty in the Philippine Army, Jovelyn Gonzaga is more than willing to play as a guest spiker in the Thai-Denmark Super League next year.
The Guimaras-native Gonzaga said she is thrilled upon learning from Philippine Superliga president Ramon Suzara that Thai teams are eyeing her for the week-long tournament slated March.
“I am really thankful upon hearing the news from Sir Tats on Christmas Day. If ever an opportunity to play (there in Thailand) is present, I will definitely grab it,” Gonzaga said in an interview.
However, Gonzaga is concerned the said tournament will clash with her eight-month military training at the Training and Doctrine Center of the Philippine Army in Capas, Tarlac.
“That’s the only struggle, my military training. So if ever the Thai teams are really interested with my services, they may send an advance letter so that I will be excused,” Gonzaga said.
“Not everyone is given a rare opportunity to play in Thailand so I know if an offer will come my way, the Philippine Army will understand it and allow me to play there,” she added.
Gonzaga is among the PSL volleybelles being eyed as imports in the Thai-Denmark league along with Ilongga Abigail Maraño, Jaja Santiago and Kim Fajardo.
