ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) continued its massive crackdown on illegal drugs this year, seizing 2.3 kilograms of shabu valued at approximately P23 million in a month of operations across the city.
Records from the ICPO showed that from January 1 to 31, the city’s 10 police stations executed a total of 51 anti-drug operations. These activities led to the apprehension of 66 suspects: 16 high-value targets and 50 street-level individuals.
Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, ICPO director, attributed these accomplishments to the proactive stance of police station chiefs and the strengthening of community partnerships.
“We are thankful to our assets and our tipsters for providing us information regarding drug peddlers. We continue to encourage the public to help us in our fight against illegal drugs to make Iloilo City a drug-free place,” said Parilla.
Moreover, the ICPO’s January report also highlighted significant gains in other areas of law enforcement.
A total of 818 individuals were apprehended for violations of various city ordinances, and 10 loose firearms and one explosive device were seized.
Following this accomplishments, Parilla emphasized that the momentum will not slow down.
“My instructions to my men are clear: continue to intensify operations — not only against illegal drugs but all forms of illegal activity — and strengthen intelligence gathering at the grassroots level,” Parilla added./PN
