ICPO seizes P178.8-M illegal drugs, nabs 873 suspects in 11 months

ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) seized P178.8 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 873 suspects in 11 months of operations across the city.

ICPO reported that the confiscation of 26,299.1568 grams of shabu and 1,679.1566 grams of marijuana was the result of 662 antidrug operations it conducted from January to November this year.

It added that of those arrested, 261 were tagged as high-value individuals (HVIs), 573 were street-level suspects, 14 minors, and five unlisted individuals. Twenty more were caught through arrest warrants.

The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) recorded the highest number of arrests at 120, followed by the Iloilo City Police Station 4 (ICPS 4) with 118, Iloilo City Police Station 2 (ICPS 2) with 83, Iloilo City Police Station 9 (ICPS 9) with 73, and Iloilo City Police Station 10 (ICPS 10) with 66 arrests.

In terms of drug volume seized, CDEU also topped the list with 8,736.4613 grams of shabu valued at P59.4 million. Joint operatives from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU 6) and other ICPO units came in second with 6,314.3032 grams of drugs worth P43 million confiscated, followed by ICPS 10 (2,193.2306 grams worth P15 million), ICPS 2 (1,530.0948 grams worth P10 million), and ICPS 9 (1,474.0952 grams worth P10 million).

ICPO director Colonel Kim Legada lauded all operating units for their unwavering dedication and efforts, as well as acknowledged community’s support in curbing the illegal drug problem in Iloilo City.
