ICPO to deploy more ‘night duty’ cops

ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is deploying hundreds of police officers on the streets of this southern city during nighttime in a bid to curb criminalities.

There would be checkpoints, beat patrols and motorcycle patrols, according to Police Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos, city police director.

“The deployment will be in areas with high incidences of crime especially at night,” Garbanzos said.

The ICPO would also tap force multipliers and barangay officials to help the police in beat patrolling.

“Force multipliers will be a big help for us in crime prevention,” he added.

Shooting incidents here alarmed the police. These included  the murder of 19-year-old Carl Dominic, son of Leganes, Iloilo Sangguniang Bayan member Larry Labuson, in Jaro district on April 3.

Recently, the health and sanitation officer of the Iloilo Fish Port Complex, Glenn Peremne, was shot to death by riding-in-tandem suspects in Barangay San Juan, Molo district.

Both cases remain unsolved./PN
