ILOILO City – The House Bill 10464 which seeks to establish the Iloilo City Hospital is now one step closer to finally become a law.
On Monday, the Senate approved the proposed measure on third and final reading.
“Our dream of enhancing the health programs and services for the Ilonggos is a step closer to reality,” said Cong. Julienne Baronda, bill proponent.
She described the Senate approval as “a victory for all Ilonggos.”
The bill was sponsored in the Senate by Sen. Bong Go, chairman of the Committee on Health and Demography.
The approved bill will be forwarded to the President Rodrigo Duterte for his signing to become a law.
Through this law, the Iloilo City Hospital will get more funding national government.
Early this year, the Department of Health (DOH) gave the city government the go-signal to build and operate its own hospital to decongest private hospitals here.
The proposed city government-run hospital to rise in Barangay San Pedro, Molo district is being envisioned as a 200-bed medical facility overlooking Esplanade 2.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said the city government will finance the construction with a P500-million loan from the state-owned Development Bank of the Philippines./PN
