ILOILO City – This city gave the members of the British Group of Inter-Parliamentary Union a very good impression during a study tour last month, according to Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III.
“I am glad to learn of the dinner you hosted for the British delegation and the briefing you personally conducted on the best practices of your local government, particularly the outstanding work done in rehabilitating the Iloilo River,” Pimentel wrote Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
British leaders saw for themselves the successful initiatives in the metropolis.
“I was told that the delegation very much appreciated your presentation, and found their entire Iloilo visit most productive and something which they will remember for a long time,” the Senate President added.
Pimentel thanked Mabilog for hosting the Senate’s guests.
“Your hardworking staff who provided their invaluable assistance in preparing a comprehensive program for the delegation certainly spelled a big difference in realizing the success of the visit,” said Pimentel.
The city government showcased the Iloilo River development and grassroots programs on housing, health and education, among others while the visiting dignitaries experienced Iloilo City’s progress.
Mabilog said the British solons’ visit boosted the city’s growing reputation as a benchmark capital highlighting successful strategies to planners and decision-makers in both public and private sectors.
The mayor is optimistic that the British leaders may help promote Iloilo City to tourists and investors as well as provide assistance for social services and economic improvement. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
