ILOILO City – This city’s drive to become one of the country’s most investor-friendly urban centers has once again been recognized. It secured a spot among the Top 5 finalists in the 2025 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU) Awards of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
“This recognition is both an honor and a challenge for us to continually rise to action,” Mayor Raisa Treñas said, stressing that the city’s consistent performance highlights the collaboration of the local government and the private sector in shaping economic policies.
The city previously bagged the coveted award in 2023 and was also a finalist in 2024, underscoring its steady track record in pursuing reforms and growth strategies that boost investor confidence.
This year’s repeat inclusion, officials noted, reflects not just past achievements but also the city’s ongoing efforts to align governance and business climate with its long-term development agenda.
Anchored on its 2029 Vision, City Hall has committed to transforming Iloilo into a model of a liveable, sustainable, and resilient city led by empowered Ilonggos who uphold cultural integrity, environmental stewardship, and inclusive growth.
Treñas emphasized the mission is to place Iloilo among the top three most liveable highly urbanized cities in the country by upholding transparency and environmental protection.
The city government is set to present its case at the final judging in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, next week.
“We will bring with us the collective aspirations, pride, and unwavering vision of the Ilonggos,” Treñas said, adding that the recognition further motivates the city to strengthen policies that create more opportunities for residents and attract long-term investment./PN
