ILOILO CITY is set to host the “Grind Five” skating competition on Sept. 30 at the Public Skate Park at the Esplanade 1 extension.
The one-day skating event will be divided in three categories – longboard, skateboard and fingerboard – said Rommel Castro, head of Iloilo City government’s Sports Development Division.
Longboard is an open category. Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. and the competition proper, 7 a.m. Fingerboard is another open category, whose registration starts at 9 a.m. and the competition, 11 a.m.
Skateboard, on the other hand, will have Class A, Class B, Class C, and Youth Division.
Registration for this category starts at 10 a.m. while the competition proper begins at 1 p.m.
Those interested in joining will be charged with a P100 registration fee, which covers a free drink and access to the after-party.
“We are inviting our young Ilonggos to support this event but we will be strict in the no helmet, no play policy,” Castro said.
“This is an avenue where we develop the character of our youths for them to become responsible citizens,” he added./PN
