ILOILO City – Crime incidents decreased by 52 percent in the last week of November compared to the same period last year.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) recorded a total of 45 crime incidents from Nov. 24 to 30, 2017 – way lower than the 95 crimes reported from Nov. 24 to Dec. 1, 2016.
The crimes recorded were physical injury, theft and murder.
“We recorded only five physical injury cases or a drop of 80.76 percent this year from last year’s 26 cases,” said Superintendent Jowel Saliba, ICPO operations chief.
There were only five theft cases or a drop of 55.55 percent this year from last year’s nine cases, he added.
On the other hand, there were no murder cases during the period; there were three cases during such period last year, Saliba said.
“We continue to implement maximum police visibility and strict implementation of the curfew on minors and smoking ban,” he added.
Saliba appealed to the public to help the ICPO in maintaining peace and order in the metropolis.
“If you notice an unusual person doing suspicious acts in your barangay, report it immediately to the police. We also ask the parents not to allow their children to go out of the house during curfew hours,” said Saliba.
