ILOILO – The Iloilo Provincial Government emerged as Western Visayas’ strongest fiscal performer for Calendar Year 2025, sweeping first place in 12 categories and collecting 16 major recognitions for revenue generation, collection efficiency and growth in locally sourced revenues.
The awards were conferred by the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) Regional Office 6 and the Regional Association of Treasurers and Assessors (REGATA) in Region 6, Inc. during an awarding ceremony in Iloilo City on Sept. 23, 2026.
Of its 16 major recognitions, Iloilo secured the top spot in 12 categories, underscoring the province’s performance in raising revenues from local sources, improving collection efficiency and sustaining year-on-year revenue growth.
The province ranked first in Highest Locally Sourced Revenue (Overall); Highest Locally Sourced Revenue in Real Property Tax; Highest Locally Sourced Revenue in Economic Enterprise; and Highest Locally Sourced Revenue in Business and Other Local Taxes.
Iloilo also placed first in Highest Collection Efficiency in Locally Sourced Revenues (Overall); Highest Collection Efficiency in Real Property Tax; Highest Collection Efficiency in Fees and Charges; and Highest Collection Efficiency in Economic Enterprise.
It likewise topped the Year-on-Year Growth in Locally Sourced Revenues (Overall), Real Property Tax, Fees and Charges, and Economic Enterprise categories.
Aside from the 12 first-place awards, the provincial government ranked second in Timely Submission of Treasury Reports (eSRE) and Best Performing Provincial Approver of eSRE Reports.
It also finished third in Highest Locally Sourced Revenue in Fees and Charges and Highest Collection Efficiency in Business Tax and Other Taxes.
The provincial government attributed the recognitions to the collective efforts of the Office of the Provincial Treasurer and its counterparts in Iloilo’s 42 municipalities, the Office of the Provincial Assessor, the Office of the Hospital Management Officer, and other revenue-generating offices, with the support of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.
Beyond the rankings, the provincial government said the recognitions reflected Iloilo’s continuing commitment to sound fiscal management, transparency and efficient delivery of public services to Ilonggos./PN
