ILONGGO taekwondo athletes claimed the overall championship in the Visayas Cluster Taekwondo Championships in Bacolod City.
The jins from the stable of Mark V. Pinggol captured 13 gold, five silver and three bronze medals to dominate the Oct. 22 event that also gathered participants from Bacolod, Dumaguete and Cebu cities.
Roices Dane Decafe, Ronald Kyle Pico, Kyna Zurielle Gemarino, and Czarylle Faye Dinero bagged gold medals in the juniors category (15 to 17 years old).
In the cadet category, the group won two golds from Angela Joy Bermejo and Roivic John Decafe, a silver from Rannie Rose Dedoroy, and two bronzes courtesy of Elisha Venice Aguilar and Raphael Lloyd Pico.
The team also stamped their class in the elementary category with golds from Bronze Villa, Timothy West, Josh Karl Macahilig, Aiken Avaricio, Enzo Lucio Cape, Sofia Jessie Uy, and Titus West.
Christian Pudadera, Sheine Nicole De Asis, Julianna Martha Uy, and Thad West settled for silver while Red Lusaya was the lone bronze medalist in elementary.
“I am so thankful to God for this victory. I was so surprised with the results,” Pinggol told Panay News. “The experience they gained from the Manila tournament helped them to perform better here.”/PN
