ILOILO – The Department of Education (DepEd) has installed a new Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) for Iloilo Province following the abrupt reassignment of SDS Dr. Ernesto Servillon Jr. to Antique, a move ordered to take effect “immediately.”
Dr. Ruby Therese Palmaira-Almencion, assistant schools division superintendent of the Iloilo City Schools Division Office, now heads the DepEd Schools Division Office (SDO) of Iloilo Province. Her appointment follows a Nov. 24 memorandum issued by DepEd undersecretary Peter Irving Corvera informing Servillon of his transfer.
“In the exigency of service, please be advised of your reassignment as Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) from Schools Division Office of Iloilo to Schools Division Office of Antique, effective immediately,” the memorandum stated.
Servillon assumes the Antique post after replacing SDS Nicasion Frio. He previously served as Iloilo Province SDS beginning May 21, 2023, succeeding Ma. Luz De Los Reyes, who is now assigned to the Iloilo City SDO.
Meanwhile, Almencion’s vacated role in the Iloilo City division will be temporarily taken over by Anilao District Supervisor Dr. Eugenio Mallorca.
The leadership changes come as DepEd reshuffles key officials across Western Visayas to address what it described as urgent service requirements./PN
